Abby Finkenauer has served in the Iowa House of Representatives since January 2015, representing District 99, and is representative-elect to the U.S. House of Representatives for Iowa's 1st Congressional District. She and Cindy Axne, who also won election to the U.S. House on Nov. 6, 2018, will be the first women to serve in the U.S. House from Iowa, and at 29 years old she will be one of the youngest women ever elected to the U.S. Congress.
Finkenauer was born December 27, 1988, in Dubuque, Iowa. She earned a Bachelor of Arts from Drake University. After college, she worked at the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque with Jackson, Jones, Delaware, Clayton and Allamakee county affiliate foundations. She formerly served on the board of Greater Dubuque Development Corporation.
