Alyse Galvin was the 2018 Democratic nominee for the U.S. House of Representatives for Alaska, but lost to incumbent Don Young.
Galvin was born and raised in Alaska. She earned a bachelor's degree in political science from University of California, San Diego. After returning to Alaska, Galvin taught school and was a substitute teacher. Since 2014, she had led Great Alaska Schools, a grassroots effort she helped launch.
Her husband, Pat, was formerly the state revenue commissioner and the only Democrat to serve in the administration of former Gov. Sarah Palin, a Republican.
