Xochitl Torres Small assumed office as U.S. representative for the 2nd Congressional District of New Mexico on Jan. 3, 2019.
Torres Small grew up in Las Cruces, New Mexico. She graduated from Georgetown University, then returned to Las Cruces and served as field representative for Senator Tom Udall. She went on to earn her law degree from the University of New Mexico and practiced natural resource and water law.
