Theresa Greenfield was the 2020 Democratic nominee for the United States Senate from Iowa, but lost the general election to incumbent Joni Ernst. In 2021, Greenfield was appointed USDA Rural Development director for Iowa.

Greenfield grew up in rural southern Minnesota. She earned a bachelor's degree in design and human development from Minnesota State University, Mankato. After college, she worked as an urban planner and then in real estate development. She joined the home-building company Rottlund Homes, eventually leading the company’s Iowa division. She became president of Colby Interests, a Des Moines’ real estate and development company, 2012.

In 2018, Greenfield was a candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives for Iowa's 3rd District, but withdrew from the race after learning her campaign manager had falsified some of the required signatures to qualify her for the ballot.
