Biography
Lori Chavez-DeRemer served as U.S. secretary of labor from March 11, 2025 to April 20, 2026. She previously served in the U.S House of Representatives for Oregon’s 5th congressional district.
Chavez-DeRemer was born on April 7, 1968 in Santa Clara, California. She received a bachelor's in business administration from California State University-Fresno. Her work experience includes running several medical clinics in the Pacific Northwest.
She served on the Happy Valley Parks Committee and the Happy Valley City Council before serving as mayor of Happy Valley from 2010 to 2018. From 2025-2025, she served as the U.S. representative for Oregon's 5th congressional district.
