Lori Chavez-DeRemer assumed office in the U.S House of Representatives for Oregon’s 5th congressional district on Jan. 3, 2023.

Chavez-DeRemer received a bachelor's in business administration from California State University-Fresno. She served on the Happy Valley Parks Committee and the Happy Valley City Council before serving as mayor of Happy Valley from 2010 to 2018. DeRemer's work experience includes running several medical clinics in the Pacific Northwest.

DeRemer was a 2016 Republican candidate for District 51 of the Oregon House of Representatives. In 2018, she ran for that seat as a Republican candidate, a Libertarian candidate, and an independent write-in candidate.
