Janice Hahn was elected to the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors on Nov. 8, 2016. Prior to serving on the board, she represented California's 36th Congressional District in the United States House of Representatives from July 2011 to 2012 and District 44 from 2012 to 2017.

Hahn was born May 30, 1952. In 1974, she graduated from Abilene Christian University in Texas with a bachelor of science degree in education. Following graduation, Hahn taught at Good News Academy, a private school in Westchester, from 1974 to 1978.

Prior to holding a Congressional seat, Hahn was elected to represent the 15th District on the Los Angeles City Council, serving from 2001 to 2011.
