Delaine Eastin was a Democratic candidate for governor of California in 2018.

Eastin was born in San Diego in August 20, 1947. She received her bachelor's degree from UC Davis and her master's in Political Science at UC Santa Barbara.

She taught at several community colleges, and then worked as an accounting manager and corporate planner while serving on the City Council in Union City until she was elected to the State Assembly in 1986. She held this position until 1995 when she was elected Superintendent of Public Instruction of California. Since she left this position in 2002, Eastin has been a speaker and board member on issues of education policy, nutrition and electing women to public office.
