Debbie Mucarsel-Powell served as the U.S. representative for Florida District 26 from 2019-2021. She was the Democratic nominee to represent Florida in the 2024 Senate race, losing to incumbent Rick Scott in the general election.

Mucarsel-Powell immigrated from Ecuador to the United States as a teenager with her mother and sisters. She earned a bachelor's degree in political science from Pitzer College, and a master's degree in international political economy from Claremont University in 1996. She is a a former associate dean at Florida International University.
