Biography

Catherine Templeton was a Republican candidate for governor of South Carolina in 2018. 

Templeton was born in Midlands, South Carolina and was raised in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. She received her B.A. in political economics/philosophy from Wofford College and her J.D. from the University Of South Carolina School Of Law. Templeton worked a variety of jobs in the private sector from 1993 to 2017, including as a process engineer for Milliken & Company and a lawyer at Oldletree Deakins Law Firm. 

Her political experience includes the director of South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation, and the director of South Carolina State Department of Health and Environmental Control. Most recently, she was director of the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control.
