Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick is a member of the U.S. House, representing Florida's 20th Congressional District. She assumed office on January 18, 2022.

Cherfilus-McCormick was born in Brooklyn. She spent a majority of her life growing up in Broward County, Florida. She has earned a B.S. in political science and government from Howard University in 2001 and a J.D. from St. Thomas University in 2010.

She began advocating in Washington D.C, on Capitol Hill for healthcare reform, where she grew a passion for politics. She was a chief executive officer of a healthcare company. She worked as the CEO and vice president of operations of Trinity Health Care Services, Inc. She was also a legal intern, and an assistant project manager for the New York City Transit Authority.
