Sanna Marin assumed the position as the prime minister of Finland on December 10, 2019. She was selected by her party when the sitting prime minister resigned. She is Finland's youngest prime minister and it's third female prime minister, and the world's youngest currently-serving prime minister.
Marin was born in Helsinki, Finland, on November 16, 1985. She graduated from the University of Tampere with a Master of Administrative Services in 2017. She was elected to the Tampere City Council in 2012. In 2014, she was elected second deputy chairperson of the Social Democratic Party. In 2015, she was elected to the Parliament of Finland and in June of 2019 she was elected as the Minister of Transport and Communications.
