Mary Throne served in the Wyoming House of Representatives from 2007 to 2016. She ran unsuccessfully for governor of Wyoming in 2018.

Throne was born and raised in Campbell County, Wyoming. She received a Bachelor of Arts in history from Princeton University and a Juris Doctor degree from Columbia Law School.

After law school, Throne returned to Wyoming. She served as an assistant Wyoming attorney general from 1992 to 1999, and was elected to the Wyoming state legislature in 2007, representing state house district 11. She served as the minority floor leader during the 2013-2014 session and as minority whip from 2010 to 2012.
