Kristen McDonald Rivet is the Senator for the Michigan State Senate District 35. She is running in the 2024 elections to join the U.S. House of Representatives for Michigan’s 8th District.

Rivet was born in Michigan in 1970, and she currently lives in Bay City. She attended the Michigan State University for undergraduate and the University of Michigan at Flint for graduate school, where she earned a master's degree in education and public administration. She has worked as the Executive Director of Michigan Head Start, Chief of Staff for Michigan’s Department of Education, and Vice President of the Skillman Foundation. She also served on the Bay City Commission and as chief strategy officer for the Michigan Health Improvement Alliance.

This is her first major political position and her first term in office since winning the 2022 midterm election for the Michigan State Senate.
