Kathleen Rice served New York's 4th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2015-2023.

Rice was born on Feb. 15, 1965, in Manhattan. She graduated from Catholic University of America and attended law school at Touro College. After graduating, she worked as a federal prosecutor in Philadelphia.

Prior to serving in Congress, Rice served as a federal prosecutor in the U.S. attorney's office in Philadelphia, as an assistant district attorney in the Kings County District attorney's office in New York City and as Nassau County district attorney. Rice was the first woman to be elected Nassau County District Attorney, a position she held until she was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives.
