Grace Napolitano assumed office as a U.S representative from California in 1999, representing the 34th District from 1999-2003, the 38th District from 2003-2013, the 32nd District from 2013-2023, and now the 31st District.

Napolitano was born December 4, 1936, in Brownsville, Texas. She attended Cerritos College in Norwalk, California, and Texas Southmost College in Brownsville, Texas. In 1986, she served on the Norwalk (Calif.) City Council; and from 1989 to 1990, she served as the mayor of Norwalk. Napolitano served as a member of the California Assembly from 1992 to 1998.
