Gloria Negrete McLeod served as the U.S. Representative for California's 35th Congressional District from 2013 to 2015. She did not seek re-election in 2014 in order to run for the San Bernardino County (Calif.) Board of Supervisors, but lost in the general election.
Negrete McLeod was born in Los Angeles, California, on September 6, 1941. She received her associate's degree from Chaffey Community College. Before being elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, she served as the president of the Chaffey Community College Board and was a board member for five years before being elected to the State Legislature. From 2000 to 2006 she represented the 61st District in the State Assembly. She then served as a state senator for California's 35th District.
