Cary Kennedy was a Democratic candidate for governor of Colorado in 2018.

A native of Colorado, Kennedy spent her early years in Evergreen and Denver. She received a bachelor's degree from St. Lawrence University, a master's degree from Columbia University, and a law degree from the University of Denver.

Kennedy started her career as a staff member of the governor’s Office of State Planning and Budgeting. She continued to hold different positions in public service for the next 20 years, including fiscal analyst of the Colorado Department of Health Care Policy and Financing, policy director of the House Speaker, and chief financial advisor for the city of Denver.
