Biography

Abigail Davis Spanberger assumed office as the governor of Virginia on January 17, 2026, the state's first female governor. She previously served as the U.S. representative for Virginia's 7th Congressional District from 2019 to 2025. Spanberger served as a Senate page for U.S. Senator Chuck Robb (D-VA). She graduated from the University of Virginia, then earned her M.B.A. from a dual-degree program between GISMA Business School in Germany and Purdue University. She began her career as a federal law enforcement officer with the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, later joining the CIA as an operations officer. In 2014, she began working at EAB (formerly Royall & Company).
