TIM SUPRISE: The craft beer industry has a broad impact on the economics of all of the communities, everything from local farms to large-scale manufacturing. The barley and the hops or the raw materials in the craft beer industry are made here in Michigan.

STABENOW: Well, one of the reasons I work on every part of our economy is because with my ag hat on, I can support hops, which is a growing part of our economy, and then my small business hat and we can go see micro breweries.

SURPRISE: Senator Stabenow has really supported small business and as a small craft beer owner, that has mattered tremendously to us. We are the engines of economic growth. We employ, as a percentage, more of the people than large corporations, and it's a real privilege when you have a leader that steps up regardless of what side of the aisle they stand on for the real important issues that matter in our state.

STABENOW: Well, I love the fact that you can see an auto plant in Michigan and then go across the street to a micro brewery and be a part of a huge growing part of our economy.
