WHITMER: Like a lot of people in Michigan, I was brought up to work hard. My first job was at Burlingame lumber. I stacked the shelves at Target and I worked the line at the Royal Fork buffet. I was also the first woman elected as a leader in the Michigan Senate where I took on the tough bites like expanding Medicaid and increasing the minimum wage. Now, I'm running for governor because I've had it with Republicans like Donald Trump blowing up healthcare while your costs go up and up, and because it's about time we fix the damn roads. It's time to get it done.
