Biography
Suzan DelBene assumed office as the U.S. Representative for Washington's 1st District in January 2013. She was first sworn in on November 13, 2012, elected through a special election to fill the vacancy left by Jay Inslee.
DelBene was born in Selma, Alabama, on February 17, 1962. She earned a bachelor's degree from Reed College in Portland, Oregon, in 1982, and a Master's in Business Administration from the University of Washington in 1990.
Prior to serving in Congress, DelBene worked as an executive and entrepreneur, serving as vice president of marketing and store development at drugstore.com. She also served as CEO and president of Nimble Technology. She also worked for 12 years at Microsoft, becoming corporate vice president of its mobile communications business. In 2010, she was appointed by Governor Gregoire to be the director of the Washington State Department of Revenue.
