Sarah Huckabee Sanders assumed office as the governor of Arkansas on January 10, 2023. She is Arkansas's first female governor and, as the daughter of Mike Huckabee, governor of Arkansas from 1996-2007, the first woman to be governor of a state her father was governor of.

Sanders was born on Aug. 13, 1982, in Hope, Arkansas. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from Ouachita Baptist University in 2004.

Sanders is a founding partner of Second Street Strategies, a consulting firm for Republican campaigns. She has also worked as executive director of Huck PAC, as the national campaign manager for the ONE Campaign, and as vice president of Tsamoutales Strategies. She served as a field coordinator for her father’s 2002 gubernatorial reelection campaign and for George W. Bush's 2004 reelection campaign, national political director for her father's 2008 presidential campaign, senior adviser in Tim Pawlenty’s 2012 presidential campaign and Tom Cotton's 2014 U.S. Senate campaign, campaign manager for John Boozman's 2010 U.S. Senate campaign, and senior advisor on Donald Trump's 2016 presidential campaign. She served as White House press secretary for President Trump from 2017-2019, only the third woman to hold that position.
