Mary Mayhew is a lobbyist and former Maine commissioner of Health and Human Services. She was a 2018 Republican candidate for governor of Maine, but lost in the primary.

Mayhew was born in 1965 and grew up in Pittsfield, Maine. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in political science at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville.

Mayhew served as a legislative assistant in Washington, D.C., for Arkansas Congressman William Alexander and then worked as a manager of state government relations for Equifax Corporation in Atlanta, Georgia. She moved back to Maine in 1990 and served as Patrick K. McGowan's congressional campaign manager. In 2017, Mayhew left her position as commissioner of the Department of Health and Human Services to run for governor.
