Maria Elvira Salazar has served as the U.S. representative for Florida's 27th Congressional District since 2021.

Salazar was born and raised in Miami, Florida. She received a Bachelor of Arts in communications from the University of Miami and a Masters in Public Administration from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government.

Salazar has been a news anchor for MEGA TV, Telemundo and CNN español, host of the television show Maria Elvira Live, a senior political correspondent for Telemundo, the Central American bureau chief for Univision, and a White House and Pentagon correspondent for Univision. She is recipient of five Emmy Awards in broadcast journalism.
