Biography

Karin Housley has served in the Minnesota Senate since 2013. She ran unsuccessfully in the special election to fill the United States Senate seat previously held by Senator Al Franken, but lost to Tina Smith, who was appointed to fill the seat after Franken's 2017 resignation. 

Housley was born on January 20, 1964, in South St. Paul, Minnesota. She received a Bachelor of Arts in communication studies from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1988. After college, she worked as a television news producer and eventually hosted her own radio show. She currently owns a real estate business in Stillwater, Minnesota.
