Demi Kouzounas was the Republican nominee for 2024 U.S. Senate election to represent Maine, losing to incumbent Angus King, Jr. in the general election.

Kouzounas was born in Saco, Maine. She earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maine at Orono and later attended Tufts University to earn a doctorate in dentistry. Kouzounas’ career experience prior to running for public office includes serving in the U.S. Army and owning and operating her own dental practice.

Kouzounas began her career in politics by launching a bid to become a member of Maine’s State House of Representatives in 2012, in which she was defeated. In 2017, Kouzounas was elected as the Maine Republican chairman. She served in this position until 2023, when she lost her reelection campaign. In 2024, Kouzounas announced her intention to run for U.S. Senate.
