Ilhan Omar: Hello Minnesota, I wish I could be there in person with you, but Congress was called into session this week for votes. This week I get to vote on the no ban act: a bill I led to place Donald Trump's "Muslim Ban" in the dustbin of history where it belongs. You sent me to Congress in 2018 to fight for you because you knew you needed an organizer, an advocate, and a policy maker; someone who will fight for paid leave so mothers don't have to worry about loosing their paycheck because their child got sick. Someone who is willing to stand up to a president who targets Muslims, women, and immigrants at every turn. You send me because you knew, at this moment, half measures are not enough. That's why we have been fighting for a Green New Deal: so we can have a breathable planet. That's why we've been fighting for Medicare for All, because we believe no one should die because they don't have healthcare. And, yes, you send me to Congress to tackle systems of oppression wherever we find them. That's why we have been dreaming big and fighting hard: because structural changes need to be bold and transformative. Our movement has always been about organizing people for big change. It's been the honor of my life to get to represent you in Congress. We have been in this fight together. Thank you for fighting alongside me, and I will never stop fighting for you.
