AREPORTER 1: Senator Deb Fischer taking action to try and keep Nebraska nursing homes open.

REPORTER 2: Fischer is joining an effort to overturn the centers for Medicare and Medicaid services rule.

REPORTER 3: 75% of nursing homes will have to increase staffing to comply with these standards.

REPORTER 4: Which can be hard in rural areas already struggling to staff care facilities.

REPORTER 5: Fischer saying in part quote, ‘hiring more nurses simply isn't possible in many areas of the country, including Nebraska's rural communities.’

REPORTER 6: Fischer is worried the rule could force a dozen facilities to close here in Nebraska. She says the bill would protect seniors’ access to care and reverse the decision.
