KIRKPATRICK: Growing up, my dad was a Democrat and my mom was a Republican. We didn't shy away from disagreements, but we were always respectful, and that's what's missing in Washington today. Politicians are so focused on proving they're right that they forget to do what's right. I'm proud I worked with both parties to reform the VA to improve care for veterans. We need more of that. When we understand there's a cause bigger than ourselves, that's when America is great. I'm Ann Kirkpatrick and I approve this message.
