NEWSCASTER: Oregon Senator Jeff Merkley is on the defensive tonight as records tie him to the IRS scandal.

NEWSCASTER: One of the greatest abuses of power in our country's history started with Sen. Merkley of Oregon. Amid the questions about Merkley's role in one of our nation's biggest scandals, Oregon voters are left asking themselves, can Jeff Merkley be trusted to represent us in Washington?

NEWSCASTER: Over the last three years, Merkley repeatedly pressured the IRS to target political groups opposed to his party's views.

PRESIDENT OBAMA: I will not tolerate this kind of behavior in any agency, but especially the IRS.
