SZELIGA: One of the biggest disappointments I see coming out of Washington D.C. is a failure to care for our veterans. How heartbreaking when you open the paper and you see a young man or woman who’s returned from fighting for us abroad and they can’t get the services they need. That’s not right. We have a moral obligation to take care of our veterans. My opponent who’s been in Washington for seven terms hasn’t done anything to help this. Under his leadership, the Veterans Administration has only gotten worse. So we need people that can work across the aisle. We need people to remember these are the lives of men and women. We have the highest rate of suicide amongst our veterans. That’s not acceptable. Why are they waiting two and three years to see a doctor? So to the veterans of this state: I promise you, I will work day and night and tirelessly as we work to solve the problems that our veterans are facing.
