Shar Speaks about Gun Violence Prevention - Oct. 14, 2016

SHAR: About two weeks into the campaign I got the most devastating news in my life. My cousin Jacara Spokes was shot and killed by her ex-boyfriend. He not only shot and killed her, but he shot and killed her friend Maurice Partlow, and critically injured her son Jerice Hamilton. This change in circumstances caused me to become very passionate about Hillary Clinton's plan for gun violence. She's working very hard to keep guns out of the hands of domestic abusers. If this plan had been in place, he would not have had access to a gun, and my cousin would still be alive today. I think this is the most critical election to vote in possibly all of my years of being alive. If we don't vote we forfeit on all of the progress that we have made as African-Americans in this country. So I urge you to get involved.
