LAHEY: I'm Matt Lahey for Carol Shea-Porter. As a mayor and city councilor in Laconia for seventeen years, I know that Carol’s positions regarding jobs, healthcare, seniors and veterans are good for the country. Most important to me is Carol's genuine support for Social Security retirement. For most retirees, Social Security is their primary, if not sole, source of income. Seventy-five percent of people nearing retirement age have saved $30,000 or less. Paying the mortgage, putting food on the table and providing for the kids is hard enough. Frank Guinta and the Republicans talk about reforming Social Security. What Guinta really means is to do away with it. Guinta’s solution is to leave seniors on their own to dabble in the stock market and to live and die with its ups and downs. It would be a disaster. Seniors would become insecure and dependent. That's just not right. Carol will maintain Social Security and keep it strong. That's why I'm voting for Carol Shea-Porter on November 6.
