ESOSA: An issue I care deeply about is lead poisoning in this country. I am, myself, a product of progressive policy. My parents were immigrants. When we first got to this country, we were living in apartments that were not the best and that had "safe"…what we considered at the time to be safe levels but now that we know that there are no safe levels of lead, and any small amount can lead to select poisoning, I want to make sure that no other child in this country has to live in environments like that. In recent years, not only have we discovered that there is no safe level of lead, but actually any reduction from any level can lead to drastic improvements and reading proficiency. Things like behavioral issues, and substandard test, and we're not even giving these kids a chance to soar. So Hillary Clinton has a plan to eliminate lead as a public health threat within five years, and she understands that every dollar we invest in reducing and preventing lead exposure can lead to up to two hundred dollars of reduce social costs in the future. And not to even speak of the vast economic benefits for these children.
