Avril Haines served as director of national intelligence from 2021-2025. She is the first woman to serve in this role. Haines was born on August 27, 1969, in New York. She obtained a bachelor's degree in physics from the University of Chicago in 1992 and a law degree from Georgetown University Law Center in 2001.
