Susan Wild assumed office as U.S. representative for Pennsylvania's 7th Congressional District on Jan. 3, 2019. Previously, Scanlon served in the U.S. House for Pennsylvania's 15th Congressional District, having won a special election to fill the remainder of Charlie Dent's term. That area was re-districted as the 7th District for the 116th Congress.
Wild was born June 7, 1957, at Wiesbaden Air Force Base in West Germany, where her father was stationed with the U.S. Air Force. She earned a Bachelor of Arts at American University in 1978 and a Juris Doctor at the George Washington University Law School in 1982. She became a partner at the law firm Gross McGinley in 1999.
Wild ran for Lehigh County Commissioner in 2013, but lost. She was appointed the first female solicitor of Allentown, Pennsylvania, in January 2015, serving until December 31, 2017, when she resigned to run for office in the U.S. House of Representatives.
