Monica Tranel was the Democratic nominee for Montana's first Congressional district in the 2024 election. She previously ran unsuccessfully for the same seat in 2022.

Tranel was raised in various cities across Montana. She earned her bachelor's degree from Gonzaga University and graduated with a law degree from Rutgers University.

Prior to entering the political realm, Tranel was a two-time Olympic rower for the United States, competing at the 1996 and 2000 Olympic games. Since 2001, she has worked as an attorney in Montana.
