Maura Sullivan is a military veteran and former government official. She’s served as an official in the Obama Administration in the Veterans Administration and the US Department of Defense. She also ran for New Hampshire’s 1st Congressional District, but lost in the Democratic primaries.
Sullivan was born on October 18, 1979 in Evanston, Illinois. She earned her BA from Northwestern University and her MBA and MPA from Harvard University. She then went on to serve as an officer in the US Marine Corps, eventually reaching the rank of captain. After earning her time at Harvard, she worked at PepsiCo in management roles.
Her career in public service began in 201 when she was named to the American Battle Monuments Commission. In 2014, she was appointed as the Assistant secretary of Veterans Affairs for the Office of Public & Intergovernmental Affairs and later in 2015 as the Assistant to the Secretary of Defense for Public Affairs.
