Biography
Marie Newman served as the U.S. representative for Illinois' 3rd Congressional District from 2021-2023.
Newman was born on April 13, 1964 in Evergreen Park, Illinois. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in journalism and business from the University of Wisconsin. After college, she worked in advertising, eventually becoming a partner in a large ad agency and later starting her own consulting firm. She co-founded a nonprofit organization, Team Up to Stop Bullying, to address bullying among school children. She has served as a state and national advocate for health care rights, income equality, LGBTQ+ rights and gun safety.
