Katrina Christiansen is the Democratic nominee in the 2024 election to represent North Dakota in the U.S. Senate.

Christiansen was born in Pender, Nebraska. She earned a bachelor’s degree in biological systems engineering from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2005, before obtaining a master’s degree from the same university in 2006. In 2011, Christiansen earned a doctor of philosophy degree in agricultural engineering from Iowa State University.

Prior to entering the political realm, Christiansen worked as a plant engineer and pilot project lead. She was also employed as a director of malting research and innovation. Christiansen currently serves as an engineering professor at the University of Jamestown in North Dakota.

Christiansen ran to represent Maine in the 2022 U.S. Senate election, but was defeated by the incumbent. In 2024, Christiansen announced her plans to again run for one of Maine’s U.S. Senate seats.
