Jennifer McCormick was the Democratic nominee for Indiana's 2024 gubernatorial race, losing to incumbent Mike Braun in the general election. She previously served as the final State Superintendent of Public Instruction, from 2017 until the position was abolished in 2021.

McCormick grew up in New Castle, Indiana. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in elementary education in 1993 from Purdue University, a Master of Arts in special education from Ball State University in 1999, and Education Specialist and doctorate of educational research degrees from Indiana State University in 2011.

McCormick began her career as a special education and language arts teacher before becoming the principal of Yorktown Elementary School, serving in that position from 2004-2007. She then served as the assistant superintendent of Yorktown Community schools from 2007 until appointed superintendent in 2010. McCormick served in this position until her election to the State Superintendent position in 2016.
