Biography

April McClain Delaney assumed office as the U.S. representative for Maryland's 6th congressional district on January 3, 2025. 

McClain Delaney was born in Buhl, Idaho. She attended Northwestern University and studied communications before going to Georgetown University Law Center and earning her J.D.. She worked as an attorney for Cohn and Marks, LLP, and Loral Space & Communications ,Ltd, before joining the national non-profit Common Sense Media in Washington D.C., where she worked for over 15 years. McClain Delaney was appointed deputy assistant director of communications and information at the Department of Commerce in 2022. She stepped down to run for Maryland’s Sixth U.S. Congressional District.
