Christina "Chrissy" Houlahan assumed office as the U.S. representative for Pennsylvania's 6th Congressional District on Jan. 3, 2019.

Houlahan was born June 5, 1967, at the Naval Air Station Patuxent River in Maryland, and spent her childhood on various U.S. naval bases in the U.S. because of her father's career as a naval aviator. She earned a Bachelor of Science in engineering from Stanford University in 1989 and a Master of Science in technology and policy from the the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1994. After graduating from Stanford, Houlahan spent three years in active duty with the U.S. Air Force, where she served as a project manager working on air and space defense technologies, then served 13 years in the inactive reserve, retiring with the rank of captain.

After leaving active duty, Houlahan was chief operating officer for the start-up sportswear company AND1 Basketball, then became COO of the non-profit startup B-Lab when AND1 was sold. Through the Teach for America program, she worked as an 11th-grade science teacher at Simon Gratz High School in Philadelphia for one year, then joined Springboard Collaborative, a Philadelphia-based non-profit focusing on early childhood literacy in underserved populations nationwide, as president and CFO/COO.
