BRAUN: I remember when my seven-year-old neighbor was punished for playing with me just because I was black. I remember how proud my father was to be a police officer, but there were other jobs where he need not apply. Today, you don't have to be a person of color to feel shut out. I'm Carol Moseley Braun and when I'm Mayor, the no bid contracts, the insider deals, the jobs where you need not apply -- ;those days will be over. For me, every neighborhood matters.
