SEWELL: A million gold medals couldn't replace Lisa McNair’s loss, but it was the least I could do for the poor little girls and their families.

ANNOUNCER: To honor the four little girls lost in the 16th Street Baptist Church bombing, Terri Sewell passed the law that officially recognized them with the Congressional Gold Medal, America's highest civilian honor. Lisa McNair, sister of Denise McNair:

MCNAIR: My mother and I were very honored to be able to go to Oval Office and meet America's first African-American president and share that day with Alabama's first African-American woman elected to Congress. Congressman Sewell worked very hard to help my sister receive the Congressional Gold Medal of Honor, and we are very proud of that.
