HEGAR: Hi everyone, MJ Hegar here, and I have some really big news to tell you about the Affordable Care Act, which has been so vital in providing a safety net to those who have lost their employer provider health care recently. It has its newest supporter... and it’s a big one. That’s right, our own Senator John Cornyn now apparently supports the Affordable Care Act that he has voted twenty times to destroy. But, don’t take my word for it, just watch this clip from his interview:

NARRATOR FROM OUTSIDE VIDEO: Senator John Cornyn has voted time and time again against Obamacare.

HEGAR: Okay, that wasn’t the right clip clearly, we may be having some technical difficulties. But, let’s try that again.

JOHN CORNYN FROM OUTSIDE VIDEO: … the disaster that is known as Obamacare.

HEGAR: Nope, that’s still the wrong clip. Let’s just quickly move on to the next one.

JOHN CORNYN FROM OUTSIDE VIDEO: Like layers of an onion, every time you peel back another layer of Obamacare it just seems to be getting worse and worse and worse.

HEGAR: I’m really sorry about this. It turns out there are just a lot of clips of Senator John Cornyn talking about how much he hates the Affordable Care Act. They didn’t call him “Repeal’s Top Salesman” for no reason. Can we just try one more time?

JOHN CORNYN FROM OUTSIDE VIDEO: The good news is people can find... get coverage under the Affordable Care Act or via Medicaid based on their income.

HEGAR: Look, I don’t know what made Senator Cornyn change his mind. Maybe he’s finally realized that the majority of his constituents want to keep the ACA. Maybe he is scared of losing this election because only just over a third of our state supports him in the polls. Maybe he’s just confused and doesn’t actually remember what the Affordable Care Act is. But whatever the reason, I just want to say thank you Senator Cornyn. People may call you a hypocrite but at least you’re on the right side of things... for today. Now I hope you’ll follow my lead again in pushing to fix the Affordable Care Act and make sure it provides a public option so that every Texan has access to quality, affordable health care. And hey, give me a call if you need any other ideas that you can flip flop on that are supported by the majority of us Texans. Things like universal background checks and ending family separation. I’m here to help.
